Growing up in Utah with the Wasatch Mountains as his back yard Michael spent time outdoors as a kid catching lizards, snakes and fishing by hand. He raised magpies as pets and spent time hiking, fishing, camping, and hunting. Michael has a love for learning and teaching skills. He has taught primitive and outdoor skills to many scout troops, as well as scout leadership for round table training.
He has also demonstrated and taught for church groups, private groups and for anthropology classes. His skills include primitive fire methods, basketry, pottery, knapping, tanning, atlatl, net making, trapping, and plants to list a few. He has taken a course at B.O.S.S Boulder Outdoor Survival School. Michael is also an instructor at Rabbitstick, teaching with the very skilled help of his son Talon. Michael and Talon also teach locally with family and friends where they live. Encouraging people to get outside and enjoy the world around them. Any extra time Michael has is spent in the unrelenting pursuit of Bigfoot!
